Week of April 2, 2017

There will be no WOW services or meal this week. No vespers this week. 

We need ALL able bodies to assist with Passion Play setup this Sunday April 2nd at 2pm. Please bring your battery operated power drill if you have one handy! Men, Women, Young, Old---we want you! A 2nd day of set up will be Monday April 3rd at 5:30 to complete.

Tai Chi classes are now being offered FREE of charge at the church. Please join us Monday April 3rd at 8:30am and/or Thursday April 6th at 8:30am.

Computer class will meet Monday April 3rd at 1:00pm.

Wednesday April 5th, Lunch Bunch will be traveling to Marigold, MS. Leaving the church parking lot at 9am. Please call the church to make your reservation!

Thursday April 6th Women's Bible Study will meet in the parlor at 10am.

Saturday April 8th: set up Scaffolding for Passion Play-your help is needed!

Sunday April 9th is Palm Sunday. All children are invited to come and participate in this special part of our worship service.

Annual Easter Egg hunt is scheduled for Saturday April 15th, at 10am. This will be held at the home of Hart and Whitney Pettit. All children are invited to attend. Please bring your Easter basket!

 

 

Week of February 12, 2017

Thank you to everyone who donated and purchased snacks from the youth during their Super Bowl Fundraiser. The youth raised $514.00! Thank you!

Holiday Happening will be November 4. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon. Want to help? You are needed! Please contact the church office for more information. 

The February “Lunch Bunch” trip will be to Philadelphia on February 26, 2017 for the Community Choral presentation at the FUMC. Everyone is invited. This program begins at 4:00 pm. and afterwards going to the Mexican Restaurant for dinner. If you wish to ride the bus, please call Trisha at the Church. We need an estimate for reservations. Meet in the Fellowship Hall parking lot and leave at 2:30 pm.

 

Week of February 5, 2017

The youth will be hosting a Super Bowl snack sale immediately following worship this Sunday. Please make plans to stop by and support our youth in this fundraiser!

WOW Menu: Taco salad, ranch style beans, dessert. Meal starts at 5:30pm Wednesday evening followed by group study at 6pm. Cost for meal is $4/adult, $2/child, max of $12/family. Please join us!!

Tuesday Feb 7th at 10am there will be an interest meeting for the Holiday Happening. This meeting will be in the parlor. All are invited to attend as we make plans for this event. 

Saturday Feb 11th there will be a cookie bake for children aged 1st grade-6th grade in the Fellowship Hall from 10am-12. The cookies will be distributed and then the children will enjoy a pizza lunch. All children are invited to attend.

 

Week of January 22, 2017

There's a church council meeting immediately following today's morning service. Please make plans to attend.

Please pick up the New 2017 Budget and Committee Membership Lists located on the table outside the Sanctuary and by the Sanctuary doors.

Reader’s Book Group will meet at our church in the Conference Room each 4th Monday at noon. Anyone interested is invited to join us in reading books of all sorts and participating in lively discussions of what we read.

Passion Play will be here soon! The dates are April 13-15 and many have already committed their time and talents for this annual event. If you have not been contacted and want to have a part, please contact Cliff Davidson or Art Cook. There is a place for everyone in this evangelistic ministry.

In November of 2017, we will have another “Holiday Happening”. A planning session meeting has been set for February 7th at 10:00 am in the Parlor. Anyone interested in sharing and helping plan, please attend. All ideas are welcomed.

 

Week of Jan. 15, 2017

Sunday Jan 22nd immediately following morning worship there is a church council meeting. Please make plans to attend.

January 18-25, 2017 is the annual observance of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The theme chosen for 2017 is Reconciliation – The Love of Christ Compels Us (2 Corinthians 5:14-20). Throughout 2017, join Christians everywhere in praying “that they may all be one” joining our prayer with that of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Week of Dec. 11, 2016

“WOW”- No planned meal but light refreshments after a “Caroling Around the Corner”. This will also be a night to say goodbye and wish the Horne family farewell and safety in their new home. After this week, (Dec. 14th ) there will be no “WOW” until January 14.

Sunday Dec. 11th immediately following church there will be Choir Practice. Homemade soup will be offered for lunch. NO vespers on this day!

Don't forget your Angel Tree gifts are due today! Families of recipients will be picking the gifts on Wednesday Dec. 14th

Choir Cantata will be held during the 10:00 am service on December 18. Immediately after the program and worship will be a covered dish meal. Meal assignments:

Week of December 4, 2016

WOW menu: Oven fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, biscuit, dessert. Cost is $4/adult and $2/child. Max of $12/family. This will be the last WOW of the season.

Next Wednesday Dec. 14th, we will be having a Going Away Party for Bobbie and Dustin Horne and their family. Please join us as we send them off on their new adventure!

There are still frozen bags of gumbo if you haven't gotten yours yet! Please contact Alicia Carter for more information.

Christmas Parade is this Friday December 9th. Please meet at the Catholic Church at 5:30 if you would like to walk/ride in the parade with the church. Children/families are welcome!

Carols by Candlelight: if you plan to attend, please be in the church parking lot Saturday December 10th at noon.

Please don’t forget to start ordering your Christmas Poinsettias at your florist to be put in the Church Sanctuary December 11th . They should be wrapped in gold paper with a purple bow. Please call the Church Office with names of honorees to be published in the Sunday Bulletins no later than Wednesday, December 7th .

 

Week of November 20, 2016

Gumbo sale immediately following service this Sunday (11/20) hosted by The New Generation class. The cost is $15/quart and proceeds are going towards "Imagine No Malaria".

Community Thanksgiving service Sunday 11/20 at Christian Liberty Church at 6pm.

No finance meeting Monday 11/21/16.

The office will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week.

There will be no Wednesday night activities this week.

All are invited to join the choir as they prepare for the Christmas program. They have several practices coming up soon and would love to have you join them! Sunday 11/20, 11/27, 12/4, and 12/11 at 4pm.

Ladies Night Out that was scheduled for 11/29 has been cancelled. This will hopefully be rescheduled very soon. Keep an eye on the bulletin for more information!

Children of all ages you are invited to make your Advent Wreath on Nov. 27th at 4:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. All supplies are furnished, but if you still have oasis from last year, and a platter to place wreath in, please bring. Light refreshments available. Immediately following at 5:00 pm will be the “Hanging of the Greens” ceremony to prepare for the beginning of Advent. Make plans to come!

The children of FUMC will be gathering in December to help Ali Grayce Gibson with the ministry she started last year for Christmas stockings for children in the hospitals. This is just another way our church can spread the love of Christ during this season.

Week of Nov 6, 2016

Sunday, immediately following worship, we will have our charge conference meeting. This will be followed by our potluck meal in the fellowship hall.

Friday Nov. 11th at the First Baptist SON building we will be having the Helping Hands luncheon from 11-1pm.

The flower on the altar is in honor of Jack Conoly Fenwick born 10/27/16. Proud parents are Chap and Kelly Fenwick, and grandparents are Eddie and Jean Fenwick.

Wednesday night, we will honor the Veterans from our church during the regular Wednesday night meal. Please make plans to come and let us “thank you” in person for giving of your time to serve our Country.

The New Generation class will be selling Chicken & Sausage Gumbo on November 20th after morning worship. It is $10.00 a quart. Please call the office by November 14th to reserve yours.

Children singing or playing for the morning worship service on November 13th are asked to meet in you Sunday School rooms at 9:15 a.m.

Calling Youth and Adults; Please join us for rehearsal for the Christmas Choir! Sunday afternoon rehearsals are scheduled for November 13th , November 27th, December 4th and December 11th . Come sing and celebrate the Season!

The Ladies of the Church are cordially invited to a bridal shower honoring Brittany Barton, October 30, 2016, from 2-3 in the Church Parlor.

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the important Church Council Meeting, October 30th immediately following the morning worship service. Later that afternoon from 4-6 will be the Halloween carnival in the Fellowship Hall-please bring a friend!

November 6, is the day we honor our “Departed Saints”, welcome families for Homecoming, and have Charge Conference. Rev. Glenn Seefeld will bring the message. After this exciting morning, immediately following the morning service. Join family and friends for a covered dish meal in the Fellowship hall.

Br. Scott will lead a revival at Senasha Church near Goodman on November 6-8. We will be taking the van to services if you would like to attend-please let the office know so we can plan accordingly.

Start preparing for the next Ladies Night Out! On Tuesday Nov. 29th, the ladies of the church will be hosting an evening of appetizers and holiday decorating tips & advice. This event will be held at Barrister's Hall on the square. Stay tuned for more information!

Tickets have been received for “Carols by Candlelight” at First Baptist in Jackson, on December 10. It is not too early to sign up on the sheet on the table outside the sanctuary, or call the church office.

Week of October 9, 2016

Sunday Oct 9th there will be no Vespers or Youth. Fall break begins Monday Oct. 10th.

Monday Oct 10th the Book Lovers Club will meet in the church conference room. Everyone is invited to attend.

We've started new small group lessons on Wednesday nights and we'd love to have you join us! Choose from 1 of 3 studies starting at 6pm.

Dinner Wednesday at 5:15: Potato Bar, Salad, and Dessert. Adults $4, Children $2, max of $12 per family.

The Lunch Bunch will be traveling on October 18 to Greenwood, to the Crystal Grill and then to the Mississippi Museum. The bus will leave at 10:00 on the October 18th from the parking lot. Sign-up sheet is on the table outside the sanctuary, or call the church office.

Halloween Carnival, Sunday, October 30, 4-6pm will be lots of fun. If you are in a class, please plan to do a booth and let Terry know your choice so there will not be duplicates. This carnival is for everyone, so be sure to invite your neighbors.

Thursday 9/29 Kosciusko is hosting a "Step Back in Time". This program was a great success last year and we anticipate another wonderful program this year!

Prepare to be Pumpkin Chunked!! The Learner's Class will be hosting a month long fundraiser for "Imagine NO Malaria". Your yard could be under plastic pumpkin attack for a good cause! The class is requesting $15 to have the pumpkins removed and $20 if you'd like to delegate where they go next. If you want to ensure your yard stays pumpkin free-you can contact a member of the Learner's Class to make a $25 contribution.

Tuesday Sept 20th: First Responders of Kosciusko and Attala County will be honored for a meal in our Fellowship Hall at 6:30pm. The Follow the Word Sunday School class is preparing and serving the meal. Anyone wishing to help with a financial donation or food prep should contact Linda Burroughs.
